How to Save Money on Auto Insurance Collision Coverage

By AutoCrisis.com®

Collision coverage of your auto insurance pays for damages to your car, but not that of the other driver. These damages may include those from a car accident, or any other event that is covered by your auto insurance policy.

To save money on your auto insurance collision coverage, you can either drop the coverage, and assume all risks from lack of it, or increase your deductible. If you raise your deductible, the premium will be lower, but with less coverage.

Collision coverage is usually recommended on newer cars and trucks. If you have an old vehicle with a very high mileage, buying auto insurance collision coverage may not be worth it. Why? Because, if your vehicle is significantly damaged and you file a claim, chances are your insurance company will not fix the vehicle but declare it a total loss. This happens when it costs a lot more to fix your car than it's worth.
